Frequently Asked Questions
DO YOU HAVE A SHOWROOM?
We certainly do and you are welcome to come and visit and choose your pieces and organise for immediate delivery of floor stock
I AM NOT FROM NEWCASTLE BUT WANT SOME OF YOUR FURNITURE. CAN YOU DELIVER TO ME?
No problem ! Our style furniture delivers furniture around Australia direct from our warehouse in Newcastle NSW . You can nominate your carrier or we can help with a carrier that delivers to your area .We will arrange a freight quote for you.
WHAT TIMBER IS USED IN YOUR FURNITURE?
The reproduction antique furniture is crafted from mahogany, fruitwood and mindi.
IS THE FURNITURE SOLID TIMBER?
The majority of our furniture is solid wood that has been kiln dried before manufacture. Some of the shelves are sometimes made from plywood materials for practicality purposes.
WHAT FINISHES ARE AVAILABLE?
Painted – Our French provincial furniture has a painted cream finish that has been aged and rubbed to give an original antique look. We can also offer a white painted style finish but this can sometimes tend to give a more artificial look.
Polished – Mahogany pieces are stained and polished to a colour that will enhance both traditional and modern decors. (Photography and monitors can show a colour variation – please check before purchase)
Fruitwood – This is finished in a warm golden oak colour, and would mix well with maple and oak pieces giving a modern casual feeling .or is also available in a darker aged antique look
Mindi – Finished in a mid teak colour giving a more formal look.
IS YOUR FURNITURE HAND MADE?
Our furniture is hand made and coloured , therefore every piece will be slightly different to the next .It is made to look like an antique piece and will have some blemishes in its finish , which are intentional . If you want ‘ perfect ‘ pieces of furniture then maybe you would be better buying mass produced furniture made from MDF or artificial veneers .
HOW DO I CARE FOR MY FURNITURE?
With a regular dust and an application of a good quality furniture polish or wax your furniture will stay nourished and protected. It must be remembered that timber is a natural product and some movement in the timber can on occasions occur, even antique pieces over 100 years old can experience slight movement with climate conditions.
Avoid placing hot items like mugs of tea and coffee directly on surface, always use coasters.
Silicon based products should be avoided as they tend to dry out the timber.
Do not expose furniture to direct sunlight or place near air conditioners / heaters etc as this will also tend to dry out the timber.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO RECEIVE FURNITURE?
We carry quite a large range of stock both in our warehouse and showroom which of course is available for immediate delivery.
Due to the fact that our product is hand made to order, we like to allow for a delivery time of 12 – 20 weeks.
Special orders will require a deposit of 30 % with the balance payable prior to dispatch from our store.
